- May 2: Homeschooling the High Schooler.
Homeschooling the High Schooler can seem scary. In this workshop, find out how
to do the whole job capably and excellently. Discover how to define high school
and establish studies that fulfill graduation requirements. Learn how to develop
and manage courses of study that challenge your student and prepare him or her
for their next steps. Hear how to set a four-year plan, distribute course work
over four disciplines, develop electives in your student's passions, set goals
and objectives, monitor and adjust student studies, engage your student with
study skills and prepare for college. (Text sold separately.)
- May 27 - June 23: Able to Teach, a Homeschool Parent Qualifying Class (Tuesdays 6:00-9:30 pm)
"Able to Teach", a Homeschool Parent Qualifying class, will be offered at the
School Box, (address/location) Tuesdays from 6 - 9:30 pm beginning May 27 - June
24, 2007. The class will cover methods and laws governing home-based
instruction, age and grade level instruction, multiple math approaches, learning
styles applications, teaching reading at home, locating resources, multi-age
instruction, keeping a balance in homeschooling, managing home and education and
academic excellence. The course, sponsored by Cascade Bible College, fulfills
the legal requirement for independently educating students at home. The
instructor, Diana McAlister, is a veteran homeschooler and founder of Family
Academy, a not-for-profit ministry to homeschooling families.
- June 16: Summer school classes begin.
Junior and Senior High School classes are offered for credit. Tutoring in all
basic academic classes are offered continually. Get a head start for next
school year.
